About HECS

Recognizing the importance of heritage education in spreading awareness among the people, INTACH set up the Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) in 1998. Since its inception HECS is working to create awareness among different target groups such as the public, professionals, city and local authorities, INTACH Chapters, school and college teachers, students, and heritage enthusiasts. HECS is dedicated to spreading awareness to all, especially young people, about India’s natural, built and cultural heritage – its natural environment, historical buildings, living traditions and artistic beauty. It designs different types of training programmes with the aim to make citizens aware of their role in the conservation and preservation of their natural, cultural and living heritage.
